National Sports Tribunal
The National Sports Governance (National Sports Tribunal) Rules, 2026 were also notified under the National Sports Governance Act, 2025 to establish a specialised adjudicatory mechanism for sports-related disputes in India.
The Rules define the tenure, appointment and reappointment process, powers, salary, allowances and service conditions of the Chairperson and Members of the Tribunal.
The Rules emphasise digital and techno-legal governance through an online portal for filing disputes, submission of notices and documents, virtual hearings, communication of orders and maintenance of records.
The National Sports Tribunal will function as a dedicated body for adjudication of disputes relating to sports governance and administration.
The Tribunal aims to reduce dependence on civil courts by providing an independent, speedy, cost-effective and accessible dispute resolution mechanism.
It also seeks to reduce multiplicity of litigation through a single-window system for simpler and faster resolution of sports disputes.
