Ambazari Lake
Ambazari Lake is the oldest and largest lake in Nagpur, located near the city’s southwestern border. It was built in 1870 during the Bhonsle rule as a reservoir to supply water to the city.
Key Points
The lake is the origin point of the Nag River and is spread over about 6.2 hectares.
Its name comes from the Marathi word “Amba” (mango), due to the abundance of mango trees around it.
A garden was developed beside the lake in 1958, making it a major recreational and tourist spot in Nagpur.
