Bab el-Mandeb Strait

 • Located at the southern end of the Red Sea, between Yemen and the Horn of Africa.
 • Connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden → Indian Ocean.
 • Called the “Gate of Tears” due to historic shipwrecks.
 • ~30 km wide; divided by Perim Island into two channels.
 • Key link between Mediterranean Sea and Indian Ocean via the Suez Canal.
