Drawida Vazhania

 • A new earthworm species discovered from Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary near Vazhani Dam in Kerala.
 • It belongs to the genus Drawida under the family Moniligastridae, which is mainly distributed in South, Southeast and East Asia.
 • With this discovery, the number of Drawida species recorded in India increased to 83, of which 55 occur in the Western Ghats biodiversity hotspot.
