Lokayan 26

Lokayan 26 is a 10-month transoceanic sailing expedition undertaken by the Indian Navy’s training ship INS Sudarshini to promote maritime cooperation, train naval personnel, and strengthen India’s presence across the oceans.

Key Points:

The expedition will cover over 22,000 nautical miles.
It will visit 18 foreign ports across 13 countries.
More than 200 Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard trainees will receive hands-on training in long-range ocean navigation, sail handling, and traditional seamanship.
The voyage aims to strengthen India’s maritime partnerships and goodwill with participating nations.
It supports India’s MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) vision, promoting maritime security, cooperation, and sustainable development in the Indian Ocean region.
