Nereid

Nereid  is the third-largest moon of Neptune.
It was discovered in 1949 by Gerard Kuiper and named after the sea nymphs of Greek mythology.
Nereid is known for having one of the most eccentric (highly stretched) orbits among moons in the Solar System and takes about 360 Earth days to orbit Neptune.
New observations by the James Webb Space Telescope show that Nereid contains more crystalline water ice than typical Kuiper Belt objects.
This suggests Nereid likely formed as part of Neptune’s original moon system, rather than migrating from the Kuiper Belt.
