Rodent-Borne Infection

A suspected hantavirus outbreak on a Netherlands cruise ship has caused deaths and illness. It is a rodent-borne infection spread by inhaling contaminated particles and can lead to lung (HPS) or kidney (HFRS) disease, starting with flu-like symptoms and sometimes progressing to severe respiratory distress. Treatment is mainly supportive.
